A BENCH to a war memorial has been dedicated to the Royal Anglian Regiment, The Poachers.

Terry Browning, the chairman of the Lincolnshire association of the regiment thought it would be fitting to have a bench to mark the regiment which will be based at RAF Cottesmore from next summer.

The bench was dedicated during a ceremony at the war memorial outside Browne’s Hospital in Broad Street, Stamford.

Maj (Ret’d) William O’Driscoll, the area secretary for the Royal Anglian Regiment, said: “The bench dedication all went very well.

“There were some standard bearers, the mayor of Stamford John Binder and some town councillors, who attended, which was pleasing to see.

“It is appropriate to have the bench there for quiet contemplation.”
