A fundraising club has welcomed three new members to its group.
Outgoing president of the Rutland Lions David Thompson greeted the new appointments before handing over the chain of office to incoming president Paul Brook at the club’s latest meeting.
The new members are Margaret Owers, Margaret Heath and Julie Hargreaves.
Having already been involved with club’s activities over the last 18 months, all three were delighted to become full members.
The motto of Lions clubs all over the world is “We Serve”, and Margaret, Margaret and Julie have now committed to serve the local community via the many fundraising and community service activities.
Following the induction of new members outgoing president David Thompson handed over the chain of office, the president’s tankard, and the gavel and block to incoming president Paul Brook.
During his year’s tenure, David has focused on promoting the club to potential new recruits, and so it was fitting that his last duty was welcoming new members.
David also selected The Lodge Trust at Market Overton and Rutland Reminders as his chosen charities, and was able to donate £2,000 between the two during the year. Paul looked forward to a year of fun and hard work, ensuring that Rutland Lions continue to serve the community.
