A morris dancing group will tour the county to celebrate 40 years since its formation.

Rutland Morris will be joined by more than 50 morris men from all over England on Saturday and Sunday. Their squire Mike McWhinnie said: “We are delighted to host this gathering of Morris Men this weekend. All the clubs represented have long standing links with the Rutland Morris, and we are certain to have some good dancing and great fun.”

On Saturday they will be in Gaol Street, Market Street and Church Street, Oakham, from 10.15am; Melton Mowbray Beer Festival at midday; The White Lion, Whissendine at 1.30pm; The Sun Inn, Cottesmore at 3.30pm; The Green Dragon, Ryhall at 4.30pm; and Exton Village Green at 6pm.

On Sunday they will be at the Captain Noel Newton, Oakham, at 10am; Egleton at 10.45am; The Horse & Jockey, Manton, at 11.20am; and finishing in Uppingham Market Square at 12.15pm.
