A group that promotes disabled sailing is holding the first of several summer events to attract new members and raise funds.
The Friends of Rutland Sailability will host a talk about the Paralympic sailing in Weymouth last summer at Barnsdale Hotel from 6.30pm on Wednesday, June 19.
Group member Neil Wilkinson, who is East Midlands regional organiser of the Royal Yachting Association, will give a talk about the games and how much organisation goes into the event. There will also be three short presentations about what people get from being a member of Rutland Sailability and how they can become a member.
The group will also link up with Oakham adventurer Sarah Outen as she rows across the Pacific. Special guests include the Lord Lieutenant and the High Sheriff of Rutland, along with the Rutland mayors. For tickets, which cost £15, e-mail email@example.com
Members from the group turned out for Rutland Sailing Club’s annual open day held at Rutland Water on Saturday. Olympic gold medal winning sailor Paul Goodison MBE was on hand to give demonstrations to crowds.
