SPRINGTIME arrived at a village flower arranging competition.

The Ryhall Darby and Joan club held the Easter-themed competition at Ryhall village hall on Tuesday.

Ten villagers, both men and women, displayed their entries for the judges Valerie Perry and Janet Williams.

First place went to Daphne Bowles, who won a trophy and an Easter egg.

In second was Tricia Massingham and third place went to Valerie Garnett, both of whom also received Easter eggs.

A tea of trifle and hot cross buns was served by tea hostesses Win Toulson and Edi Fordham.

Gerald Massingham also arranged a beetle drive during the afternoon, which was won by Valerie Perry, Janet Williams, Tricia Massingham and Doreen Robins.

Organiser Anne Harrison said: “The entries were very good and it was nice to see some men enter the competition as well as the ladies.”
