Ryhall Gardeners show off their produce

VEGETABLES, flowers and produce were some of the items on display at a horticultural show.

Gardeners and cooks took part in the second Ryhall Gardeners horticultural show on Saturday.

A total of 210 entries were assessed by eight judges in Ryhall Village Hall.

Villagers from Ryhall and Belmesthorpe competed in the fruit and vegetable categories, flower arrangements, cookery, handicrafts and the children’s category.

The best in show title was awarded to Mrs Topaz, of Castle Rise, Belmesthorpe, for her bramble jelly. Prizes and certificates were presented by Gerald Massingham.

Secretary Sue Conlon said: “We had such a positive response from everybody during the day.”

Overall section winners were: fruit and vegetables, Mrs Topaz; flowers, Daphne Bowles; cookery, Mrs Topaz; children’s section, Grace Carpenter, seven; handicraft Pat Lowe.
