A FIRE station hosted a coffee morning with a difference.

Bourne fire station, in South Street, held a ‘Community Safety Coffee Morning’ on Friday last week to improve town residents’ risk awareness.

Organisations including Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, the county council’s First Contact scheme, Lincolnshire Police and Age Concern were available for informal chats and professional advice on all aspects of community safety.

Issues covered included smoke alarm use, anti-social behaviour and transport for the elderly and disabled.

The event was free to attend.Further coffee mornings were held in Stamford and Market Deeping last week.

Annie Best, community fire safety advocate at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “The events had a good turn-out with members of the community showing an interest in the work of the organisations, as well as getting safety advice on a wide range of issues.”
