Sarah Outen gets a taste of the Orient on world adventure

Have your say

A TRAVELLER with a taste for the Orient is only weeks away from her winter resting place in Japan.

Sarah Outen, 26, from Oakham has, for the first time since she left London on April 1, got some time to relax and enjoy her trip around the world using man power alone.

The former Stamford High School pupil and self-confessed foodie has once again been using Twitter to talk about food and has been enjoying some Japanese delicacies including miso soup, tofu and noodles.

On her blog she wrote: “I am currently in Mutsu, Aomori, on Honshu for a few days of R&R with some new friends.

“When I feel like getting back on to Hercules [her bike] for the final miles south to Chiba on the east coast I shall do so slowly, taking the time to stop at beautiful and interesting places, clocking miles rather more slowly than I have done.

“After a quick dip in the ocean, I will head up to Minakami, Gunma prefecture, where I have been kindly loaned a house for the winter, to snooze, recover and prepare for the North Pacific in the spring.”
