Staff at Scallywags Nursery in Oakham were busy scrubbing wheels on Saturday to raise funds for a good cause.

More than £240 was raised at the car wash which will go towards Oakham sisters Helen Duncan and Sarah Readers’ three peaks challenge in memory of their father, Peter Refell, who died of cancer aged 58.

They are taking on the challenge in aid of hospice charity Loros.

Nursery manager Caroline Garmett-Clarke said: “I didn’t know how much we would raise but it was amazing.

“We washed more than 25 and it was really good fun.

“It’s great to be able to add a large sum of money to their pot.”
