SCOUT troops from across the area paraded in Bourne for the first time in decades on Sunday in celebration of St George’s Day.
Brownies, cubs and beavers came together to march through the streets, from the bus station in North Street past the town hall, into South Street before finishing at Bourne Abbey Church.
Mayor Brenda Johnson said: “It was a very good parade and it was a very important day for the town because Bourne hasn’t had a St George’s Day parade for 22 years.”
There was a strong public response to the parade with good numbers turning out.
Coun Johnson said: “It was a lovely service and the Abbey Church was absolutely packed out.”
“I hope that we don’t have to wait another 22 years until we can have the parade in Bourne again.”
