Second place for Stamford Brass band in national competition

Stamford Brass band came come second in their division at a national competition held in Skegness with a performance “with moments of real charm and fun.”

The band competed in the third of five leagues at the Mineworkers National Open Brass Band Festival where they performed the Three Miniatures for Brass by Philip Sparke.

The conductor Robert Prew said: “The band really put in a Rolls Royce performance, where every little detail within the piece of music came through clearly.”

Soloists, Becky Cale on cornet, Harriet Warren on flugel horn, Andy Pickles on euphonium and the tuba section of Neal Eastoll, Tim Leigh and Richard Key received high praise.
