Highway workers from Lincolnshire County Council have been out removing badly-painted double yellow lines in Stamford today (Monday).

The work comes in response to complaints about the “shoddy” road markings in St Mary’s Place.

Highways workers painted the double yellow lines two weeks ago. The county council said the lines were being refreshed to make the parking restrictions clear to motorists before wardens start issuing tickets on Monday, December 3.

But the paint ran among the cobbles.

Area highways manager Kevin Brumfield said last week: “What we’re planning to do is remove the existing lines entirely and use a different type of adhesive material.”
