OWLS from the Exotic Pet Refuge were on show at Sainsbury’s in Bourne at the weekend to raise some extra money for the charity.
Sandy Fox from the refuge in Deeping St James raised more than £350 from passing shoppers.
The Exotic Pet Refuge has a close connection with the Sainsbury’s in Exeter Street.
The store has been donating large quantities of its out of date produce to the charitable organisation each week for a number of years to feed the exotic animals.
Sainsbury’s press officer Jenny Allan said: “I don’t think our customers think about what we do with the left over food we have.
“Where possible we try and put it to good use.
“We are a store that is within the local community and we like to try and support smaller charities as and when we can as well as our chosen charity of the year.”
