PLANS to create homes and shops have been given the go-ahead by planners.
Hereward Homes, which is based in Crocket Lane, Empingham, wants to build one house, two flats and two shops on land behind St Paul’s Street, Stamford.
The plans were given permission by South Kesteven District Council’s development control committee at its meeting on Tuesday.
The shops will be facing onto Star Lane and the flats will be built over the shops.
Three parking spaces will also be created.
A report which went before the committee stated: “The mix of uses, primarily with shops in the ground floor and flats above, with the exception of one dwelling, is supported in this central location.
“There is also an acknowledged need to develop the site which is in a prominent location within the town centre and currently detracts from the character of the Conservation Area.”
