A MAN was astounded when a skunk wandered into his garden last night (Tuesday).

John Hollis, 45, of Church Street, South Witham, spotted the unusual sight from his living room window at about 5.30pm. He keeps chickens in his garden and when John heard them flapping about, he went to see what the fuss was about.

He said: “I could hear the chickens creating havoc so I went to make sure there wasn’t a cat. I was really quite astounded when I saw this skunk wandering around. It was quite something to see.

“I grabbed my phone to take a picture and when I opened the window to take a better one, the skunk looked right up at me and then wandered off.

“It was definitely not a cat or a badger. I’ve never seen anything like it but he seemed quite happy. I am sure it was probably someone’s pet.”
