Leanne Graham, 21, of Whissendine narrowly missed out on victory in the Kennel Club Dog Photographer of the Year competition.

Photographers from around the world took part. Leanne’s image of two dogs in a field, listening to something in the distance, was awarded third place in the Dogs At Work category in the annual competition run by the Kennel Club.

Leanne said: “I was chuffed and honoured when I got the call about my runners up position, I wasn’t expecting to actually win anything. It was a nice surprise.

“The dogs, Seren and Evie, belong to a lady called Elaine Bradley and the photo was the result of a little session in a gorgeous plot of land in Bedfordshire.

“We basically walked round the little field with the dogs and a couple of dummies and just had fun.”

Kennel Club secretary Caroline Kisko said: “The quality of the competition this year has been higher than ever before, but Leanne’s image really stood out.”
