FOUNDATION pupils at a primary school worked hard to raise money for new outdoor equipment during a sponsored pancake toss last week.

Children at Malcolm Sargent Primary School in Empingham Road, Stamford, had to toss their pancakes as many times as they could in one minute to raise the money.

Teacher Lesley McClarnon said: “It was fantastic. I think the highest score was 35 tosses.

“Needless to say, quite a few of them ended up on the floor, but we scooped them back up and let them carry on.

“We had made pancakes in the morning so the children all got to taste them before they started the challenge.”

The toss is held every year and in the past has raised as much as £500.

Mrs McClarnon is hoping that when the funds are counted this year it will be just as successful.
