SHOP workers have made their mark on a million pound fundraising campaign.
Staff from Wilkinson in Stamford have hosted cake sales, raffles and competitions during the last 10 months to raise cash for the Anthony Nolan Trust.
Branches across the country have pledged to raise £1million for the company’s charity of the year and staff at the High Street store have raised £1,000 so far.
Store manager Peter Naylor said: “Team members have thrown themselves wholeheartedly into raising cash and awareness of the charity which saves lives by matching bone marrow donors with patients suffering from blood cancers.”
Wilkinson staff also hope to encourage more people to sign up as bone marrow donors. The donor list is open to people aged 18 to 40 and anyone interested in finding out more can ask for details at the shop.
Mr Naylor is already planning the next fundraiser. He will join colleagues from other branches to walk 110 miles around Leicestershire on March 26.
He added: “Every £10 we raise means the charity can buy another testing kit to check if someone is suitable to join the donor register. If we can find just one suitable person, our efforts will be worth it so anyone who would like to make a donation is welcome to call into the store.”
