A BOXING club is supporting plans for a skatepark in Stamford.

Members of Stamford Amateur Boxing Club raised £325 from a prize draw which has been donated to Stamford Skatepark committee.

Head coach Catherine Green said: “The opportunities for young people in Stamford are becoming less and less which is a shame. We should all do our bit to help provide and support the projects which are trying to give them a chance to be part of a structured society.”

Stamford Skatepark committee chairman Marc Stanier said the money will be put towards CCTV cameras for the site on Recreation Ground Road if South Kesteven District Council approves the plans.

He said: “The boxing club works with the same age group as we do and by making this donation to us, it shows they recognise the lack of things for young people to do in Stamford and are keen to do something about it.”
