Stamford Dog Show returns to the Meadows for its eight year

Have your say

POOCHES are being put through their paces in preparation for an annual dog show.

The eighth Stamford Dog Show will take place on the Meadows on Sunday (September 9).

The event is organised by Trinity Methodist Church, in association with Pets Korner and Stamford Veterinary Centre.

The show will have two judging rings covering pedigree classes and novelty classes, ranging from cutest puppy to best sausage catcher.

There will also be a special canine Olympics and a dog agility ring for you to test your own dog as well as a parade of malamutes and huskies.

There is also a reptile tent, where you can view and handle various lizards, snakes and spiders, and a display of owls and falcons from the Rutland Falconry Centre. And the show will once again be graced by a herd of alpacas.

All proceeds from the show will go towards helping the Maua Hospital in northern Kenya and local charities including Evergreen Care Trust, Teenzone and the Youth Outreach programme.

The day starts with an open-air church service at 10.30am followed by registration for all the different show classes. You can pre-register at the Pets Korner shop in Stamford Walk. Judging starts at 1.00pm.
