Stamford High School hosted the annual Evergreen Care Trust Christmas tea party to mark the start of the festive season for 64 Evergreen clients.

The guests were treated to afternoon tea and carols performed by the Stamford Endowed Schools’ Chapel Choir.

This year’s party was particularly special for Beryl Martin, 81, who was a pupil at Stamford High School, arriving in 1944, aged 11, almost 70 years ago. Beryl thoroughly enjoyed speaking to the pupils and the current head teacher Dyl Powell, which according to Beryl’s friends was like old times as Beryl was a frequent visitor to the head’s office when she was a schoolgirl.
