youngsters who study at the Stamford Kumon Maths and English Centre held a prizegiving ceremony at Trinity Methodist Church in Stamford.

Two thirds of the group were awarded bronze, silver or gold medals and certificates for high levels of achievement and other children received certificates and prizes for effort and achievement.

Presenting the prizes was Kate Billson, a former maths student at the after-school centre and a classroom assistant there until September. She told the boys and girls to keep working steadily even when the going was tough because with practice and support they would overcome their difficulties and progress to levels they thought they could never attain.
