Stamford Striders is launching its popular Beginners’ Running Course on Tuesday giving men and women the opportunity to get fit for free.
Open to all abilities - including those who’ve not run since school - the 10-week course builds up gradually, with the aim of having everyone running five miles comfortably by the end of July.
Sessions meet at Blackstone’s Sports and Social Club in Lincoln Road, Stamford, on Tuesdays from 6.45pm and last just over an hour.
Stamford Striders Club Coach Algie Audas, said: “Running with the Stamford Striders is a great way to become fitter and healthier, as well as to meet new people and have lots of fun along the way.
“The sessions include a warm-up, a nice steady run at your own pace with plenty of stops, a warm-down and rehydration, plus tips on everything from choosing trainers to training for your first big run. And the best bit is that it’s absolutely free!
“Last year we had a terrific turn-out for the course and 60 new members joined Stamford Striders.
“Most of them were complete beginners, and so we’d urge people not to be worried that they don’t do any running already – this friendly and relaxed course is their chance to get started.”
Beginners must be over 18 and should wear comfortable clothes and trainers for each session.
