Stamford town centre roads to close during the Queen’s visit

MOTORISTS planning on driving through Stamford tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday) should expect delays due to a drive through visit from the Queen.

From about 1.30pm the roads through the centre of the Stamford will be closed by police to allow the Queen to view the town from her car after a visit to Burghley House.

The Queen is expected to arrive in the town at about 2.30pm, travelling across the town bridge, up Mary’s Hill, along St Mary’s Street and St John’s Street, across Red Lion Square, on to Red Lion Street and Broad Street, along Star Lane, St Paul’s Street, St George’s Street, St George’s Square and St Mary’s Street, before heading back across the town bridge onto the A43 where the Queen will go on to Corby for the next stop on her diamond jubilee tour.

The roads should be reopened no later than 3.15pm.
