UNIVERSITY students pedalled their way to King’s Cliffe in a 90-mile charity bike ride.

Harriet Fenn and Peter Holdsworth travelled from Rotherham to Harriet’s home village on a tandem and raised £100 for Rutland Sailability.

The couple, who met at The University of Hull, had already cycled around Rutland Water but decided to challenge themselves further when Peter inherited his grandfather’s tandem.

Harriet, 21, said: “The hills were really hard and the bike was heavy because of the panniers we were carrying but we got on quite well.”

They spread the ride over three days.

Harriet, of Stamford Road, King’s Cliffe, added: “We are pleased with the amount we raised and would like to do more rides in the future, increasing our distance each time.”

Peter, 20, from Huddersfield, and Harriet both study politics at university.
