SCHOOL’S out for summer and a host of events have been organised for youngsters across the area.
The summer holidays are nearly upon us and a range of sporting activities, arts schools and day trips are set to run.
Members of the youth team at Rutland County Council are urging youngsters to join them on a host of trips they have organised.
The fun includes rope climbing and orienteering at a Rutland Water activities day on July 25, a visit to Skegness on August 3, and a trip to theme park Alton Towers on August 9.

In Empingham, mobile youth club the Rutland Wanderer will be open on Wednesdays throughout the next three months.

Genesis Theatre Schools is set to run a summer school at Catmose College in Oakham, from August 6 to 10.
The school will challenge the levels of every child vocally and creatively through acting, singing and dancing in a fun filled environment, to put together a musical show which will be performed on the final evening of the event. Uppingham Community College will again be running its Sporting Fun Holiday Programme. The programme is part of the Rutland Extended Schools scheme that aims to offer sporting opportunities for children aged five to 11. Activities range from football, tag rugby, tennis, rounders, athletics, mini hockey, basketball and Kwik Cricket. In Stamford, One Touch Football soccer school is hosting events for young footballers. Courses will be held at Malcolm Sargent Primary School from July 24 to 26, and at Queen Eleanor School from August 6 to 8 and August 28 to 30.
The days will include a beat the goalie inflatable, cross bar challenge and daily tournaments.

People will be able to work alongside archaeologists for the first time ever in a public dig at Flag Fen, near Peterborough this summer.
The dig will take place for three weeks at the 3,500 year-old wooden causeway, much of which is still buried.
Adults aged 17 and over have the chance to take part in the dig for a day, weekend or the whole three weeks, from July 23 to August 12 with archaeologists including presenters from Channel 4’s Time Team programme.
There is also a summer school for children aged eight to 12 for two weeks from 23 July to 3 August.

Sports development organisation Sports Xtra is hosting a series of events for children between the ages of five and 11 throughout the area this summer.
Youngsters can become a special agent for the day at Spy Xperience, which will be run at Catmose Sports Centre on July 23, 24 and 25, and at Casterton Business and Enterprise College on July 30 and 31, and August 1.
Children can explore crime scenes in Detective Xperience at Catmose Sports Centre on July 26 and 27, as well as Casterton Business and Enterprise College on August 2 and 3. Small sided football game the Futsal Xperience will also be at the two venues on the same dates.
Children can get moving at Dance Xperience at Casterton Business and Enterprise College on July 30 and 31, and August 2 and 3.
