SUPER-FAST broadband is now available to the first homes and businesses in Market Deeping.
About 6,000 firms and businesses have benefited after BT Openreach engineers completed the upgrade to fibre optic cables, which can double download speeds.
It is part of the company’s plans to make super-fast broadband available to two thirds of UK homes and businesses by 2014.
Paul Bimson, regional partnership director for BT in the East Midlands, said: “The arrival of super-fast broadband in these areas is a huge boost for local businesses and households. These are economically challenging times and super-fast broadband can transform their experience of the internet.”
Speeds have already been improved in Stamford and new street cabinets are also due to be installed in Bourne this year to improve speeds for 4,800 homes and businesses.
The internet speeds in Rutland will also improve by 2013. In September Rutland County Council was chosen to receive cash from the Government to pilot a rural internet scheme.
