A SURPRISE picnic was held on Monday for three long serving staff members leaving a school.

Headteacher Tim Bright, who has been head at Bourne Westfield Primary Academy for the last 15 years, along with Jan Clucas, who has taught at the school for the last 20 years and Jan Woolmore, who has been part of the administration team for the last 12 years, all retired this week.

To mark the occasion past friends and governors joined all the current staff and pupils of the academy for a surprise picnic in the afternoon.

The entertainment was provided by the school’s award winning choir.

Mr Bright said: “It was really kind of people to come along, and a really nice surprise. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Westfield and I leave it, I think, in good heart.”

Jan Clucas said: “It was a lovely afternoon and nice to see old friends.”
