A COUPLE were delighted with the support they received after relaunching a charity coffee morning.

Pete and Diane Wheatley are avid supporters of Macmillan Cancer Care. They have lost loved ones to cancer and have seen first hand the difference charities such as this can make to patients and their families.

They used to host regular coffee mornings at the community centre in Market Deeping, but after taking a break for several years to try other fundraising ideas, they re-launched them at The Red Lion in West Deeping on Saturday. About 30 people went along to the event which raised £277.

Pete, of Bramley Road, Market Deeping, said: “We’re over the moon with the amount of money raised.”

Staff at The Red Lion provided the room, tea and coffee for free while Di and Pete had made a range of bread, cakes, cards, gifts and jewellery themselves to sell.

The couple will now be taking a break for Christmas but will return to their fundraising in the new year with another coffee morning, quiz and car treasure hunt.
