A SUPERMARKET has donated hundreds of toys to a mother and baby group in Bourne.

As part of its community project, Tesco in South Road, handed over a range of toys, nappies and cleaning products to members and volunteers at Bambino’s Baby Centre, in Burghley Street.

The group held a vintage tea party as a celebration on Friday.

The store’s community champion and checkout manager Alice Goldsmith was on hand to give out the gifts.

Waterside Garden Centre, near Baston, and Bourne-based florist Pollen Designs, also helped out by donating cakes, scones and tea, and raffle prizes for the celebrations.

The group’s co-owner Kelly Bromley said: “It was lovely they chose to donate the items to us.

“We were absolutely overwhelmed with what they gave us and a big thank you goes not only to Tesco, but to Waterside Garden Centre and Pollen Designs for all their help in making it a great day.”
