The Castle Cottage Cafe in Oakham celebrated in list of best tea rooms in the country

A cafe in Oakham has been celebrated in a national magazine’s list of the best tea rooms in the country.

The Castle Cottage Cafe, in Church Passage, has won This England’s Finest Tea Room Award and is featured in the publication’s summer edition.

The cafe was nominated for the award by former Oakham mayor Joyce Lucas.

The article reads: “We heard from Joyce Lucas, a former Mayor of Oakham, who recalls a “delightful experience of afternoon tea” at The Castle Cottage Cafe. The tea room is set in “lovely cottage gardens”, and Joyce highlights a moreish array of finger sandwiches, scones and homemade cakes, all served on bone china. She concludes: “This is what England does best”.”

The cafe was among 10 tea rooms that made in onto the list.
