Staff at a hotel in Uppingham are celebrating after the venue’s garden picked up a top regional award.

The Falcon Hotel, in High Street East, has scooped the gold award in the hotel garden category in the East Midlands In Bloom competition.

The garden won the silver award last year but the staff have gone one better this time by impressing the judges with the garden’s immaculate presentation and practicality, with the introduction of a new wheelchair ramp.

Hotel director James Torbell said: “We are both proud and excited to receive the gold award.

“We took on board the comments the judges made last time and did our best to improve it.

“Our thanks go to all the staff for their hard work.”

The town of Uppingham received a silver gilt award and was named joint winner
of the small town category at the awards in Skegness last week.
