THE new role of a priest was celebrated during a service on Sunday.

The Very Rev Mark Warrick, who is in priest-in-charge of All Saints’ Church in Stamford, has been licenced as the Dean of Stamford and a special songs of praise service was held to celebrate this in the church.

Until this year, the title of dean had been held by the Bishop of Grantham, currently the Rt Rev Tim Ellis, who attended the service. The Archdeacon of Lincoln the Ven Tim Barker and representatives from Stamford including the mayor John Binder were also present and a message from Stamford MP Nick Boles was read.
