SYKE’S Lane, Rutland Water, Empingham, came to life on Saturday at the fifth annual Rutland Day.

The event organised by Anglian Water was teamed with the second Rutland Food Festival organised by Rutland County Council and attracted thousands of people from all over the Midlands and beyond.

People from as far away as Bristol were there enjoying themselves.

Joan Quinn from Whitwell had visitors from Bristol and Yorkshire staying with her and took them to Rutland Day to show them the sights.

She said: “We came to the very first one in 2007 and haven’t been since and it is so much better.

“It is lovely for the kids because there’s lots for them to do and we love the food festival. We have been sampling everything.”
