A TEAM of car enthusiasts will appear on a new Sky 1 engineering programme later this month.

The Journos, who work at Practical Performance Car magazine in Tinwell, filmed the Safebreakers episode at a disused factory in Wales.

Magazine editor Will Holman, from Oundle, led the team made up of technical editor Kevin Leaper, of Caldecott, writer James Winstanley, of Newcastle, and columnist Mark Welford, of Whitby.

Will, 45, said: “The programme is along the same lines as Scrapheap Challenge. We had £1,000 to spend on parts to build a vehicle to smash down walls and push heavy objects weighing up to a tonne.

“We were working on it for up to 12 hours a day and it was really tiring but we had a great time.”

The Journos had to use their vehicle, named PPC Scimover, to access a seemingly inaccessible safe and crack a numerical code to be in with a chance of winning £5,000.

To find out how they got on tune in to Safebreakers on Sky 1 on Monday, August 29.

The vehicle will be sold on eBay later this month.
