YOUNGSTERS waddled their way around Burghley Park on Sunday to raise funds for charity.

More than 70 children and parents took part in the sponsored “Toddle Waddle” which was organised by mum-of-two Heidi Hayes, 33, of Lyndon Way, Stamford, in aid of the Meningitis Trust.

More than £2,600 was raised from the event which also featured facepainting, a raffle and cake and biscuit sales.

Mrs Hayes has held three walks for the charity in the memory of a friend’s 14-month-old daughter who died of the disease in 2006.

She said: “It was a really successful event and I was over the moon with the turnout despite the bad weather.

“The amount we raised was brilliant and a huge thanks goes to everyone who turned up to take part and all the local businesses who helped us with the fundraising.”

The trust supports people suffering from the disease.
