Crash victim named as serving police officer

AN INQUEST has been opened following the death of a police officer from Bourne in a car crash.

Karen Paterson, 43, of Hamilton Close, Bourne, was travelling along King Street, Langtoft, in a silver Rover 214 at about 7.40am on Friday when it collided with a silver Vauxhall Corsa.

Mrs Paterson died at the scene while the driver of the Corsa, a 46-year-old woman from Tallington, was taken to Peterborough City Hospital by Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and treated for minor injuries.

Mrs Paterson, who was born in Essex, was a serving police officer at Thorpe Wood police station in Peterborough.

An inquest into Mrs Paterson’s death was opened and adjourned by coroner Gordon Ryall at Stamford police station today (Tuesday).

A post-mortem revealed she died of multiple injuries.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the accident to get in touch with them as soon as possible.
