TWO public footpaths crossing the railway at Tallington will stay closed for at least another year.
The footpaths, which link Tallington and West Deeping, have already been closed for six months after Network Rail requested a closure order from Lincolnshire County Council.
The Secretary of State for Transport has now agreed to close it for a further 12 months.
The county council’s countryside access manager Chris Miller said: “We were asked by Network Rail in the summer to temporarily close two public footpaths crossing the East Coast Main Line for safety reasons, while they identify a suitable, permanent alternative route.”
Network Rail is considering alternative routes for walkers.
