Man removed from railway tracks in Oakham

POLICE removed a man who was lying on railway tracks near Derwent Drive in Oakham at about 2.45pm yesterday (Sunday).

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Trains were stopped while Leicestershire Constabulary officers attended and removed the man from the tracks. The man, a 46-year-old from Oakham, was then taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary as a precaution. He currently remains in hospital pending an assessment by medical staff.”
