THE MOTORCYCLIST who died in a crash with a car has been named by police.
Ian Ball, 59, from Ilkeston, was riding his yellow Honda Fireblade along Stretton Road, Greetham, on July 29 when he collided with a red Volvo S60 travelling in the opposite direction.
Mr Ball suffered serious injuries in the crash, which happened at about 9am, and was airlifted to the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. He died in hospital on Wednesday.
The driver of the Volvo received minor injuries.
Det Con Pete Davies, investigating the incident, said: “The Honda was travelling from the direction of Stretton towards Greetham within a group of five other motorcycles and the Volvo was travelling the opposite direction when the collision happened on the outskirts of Greetham village.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have seen either the Honda or the Volvo prior to the collision.”
