Update: Man seriously ill in hospital after crash on A1 near Stibbington

A MAN is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash on the A1 near Stibbington yesterday (Sunday).

A black Renault Clio crashed into the central reservation after leaving the northbound carriageway of the road at Stibbington at about 2pm yesterday.

The passenger in the vehicle, a 23-year-old man from Gainsborough, suffered life-threatening injuries and is in a critical condition at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge.

The driver, a 47-year-old man from Gainsborough, suffered minor injuries.

A diversion was in operation through Wansford after the accident happened and the road reopened at about 6.20pm.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to call them.

PC Jay Porter, investigating, said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision or the vehicle prior to it, to call police.”
