3.35pm: The A1 southbound carriageway has reopened following an earlier incident in which a lorry carrying paint jackknifed and spilled its cargo.

The southbound carriageway near the A47 junction at Wansford was closed due to the incident which happened at about 5am this morning (Friday).

Emergency services were called to the scene and the incident was handed over to the Highways Agency.

Diversions were in place on the A47, A1260 and A1139, while the scene was cleared.

No-one was injured during the incident.

Traffic was queueing back towards Tinwell on the A1 southbound near Stamford yesterday evening (Thursday) after an accident involving a lorry and a car.

It is not known whether anyone was injured in the incident.
