Double yellow lines have been painted along a busy road to ease congestion and improve safety for pedestrians.

Lincolnshire County Council has introduced a series of waiting restrictions along Barnack Road, Stamford.

The lines have mainly been painted around the corners of adjoining roads, such as Water Street, Park Lane, Maltings Yard and Park View.

Restrictions have also been introduced to the east of Daniel Court, and along the eastern side of Water Street until Welland Mews. And a two hour parking zone with no return within one hour will be in force between 9am and 4pm outside Cummins Generator Technologies.

Initial plans were revised by the council after feedback from the public.

The council decided to paint the lines as drivers were parking too close to junctions on the northern side of the road.

This was making it difficult for people to see as they pulled out of junctions, and was also resulting in vehicles mounting the verge on the southern side of the road.
