Police have appealed for information after a driver allegedly sped over a level crossing while the barriers were down.
A motorist is understood to have overtaken a queue of six cars waiting at the Helpston level crossing in Glinton Road this morning (Friday).
Ignoring the red warning lights, the driver sped around the barriers shortly before a train passed over the crossing.
Officers from the British Transport Police attended the crossing at about 8.30am.
A spokesman said: “Officers are carrying out an investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident involving a red Ford Fiesta.
“A 25-year-old man from the Peterborough area was questioned by officers and will be interviewed at a later date.”
No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
