An inquest has been opened into the death of a man who was hit by a train.

Anthony Lake, 79, of Wytchley Road, Ketton, was killed after being hit by a freight train not far from the level crossing in Station Road, Ketton, at about 4pm on January 14.

It is thought Mr Lake was walking his dog over the foot crossing, about 100 yards from the road crossing.

An inquest into Mr Lake’s death opened on Thursday and was adjourned at Loughborough Coroner’s Court.
