Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorist was left with serious head injuries following a collision on the A1.

The driver of an Alfa Romeo, a 36-year-old man from Peterborough, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where he remains, after his car careered off the northbound carriageway and hit a tree near RAF Wittering at about 5.25pm yesterday (Sunday).

PC Stu Adam, who is investigating the incident, said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision, or the vehicle prior to it leaving the road, to call police.”

Anyone with any information should call PC Adam on 101.
