Woman airlifted to hospital after car crash in Caldecott

A 24-year old woman was airlifted to hospital after a car accident.

The woman suffered serious abdominal injuries in a head-on collision with another vehicle in Caldecott at about 1.30pm (Thursday).

East Midlands Ambulance Service requested the attendance of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance to provide advanced emergency care.

A helicopter arrived at the scene at about 1.50pm. The patient was treated for her injuries at the scene, was given advanced pain relief and medication to help with blood loss.

She was then immobilised before being airlifted to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.

The patient’s current condition is unknown.

Three other people were involved in the collision, all of whom escaped with minor injuries and were treated by Emas paramedics.
