Whissendine teenager Josh Greaves has been selected to join the East Midlands Triathlon Academy regional squad for 2013 - the first step towards Olympic squad trials.

The 15-year-old finished third in the 2012 East Midlands series, taking one first place, six second and three third places during the 10-race series - an outstanding achievement in his first full year of triathlon.

His best races were at the Nottingham Triathlon were he finished first and at the National Relay Championships were his U20s team came second, and where he raced against several Great Britain triathletes.

He also competed in five adult sprint distance triathlons, coming in the top five percent of athletes in each event, and claiming two top ten finishes.

Josh was also eligible to run the Whissendine 6 for the first time and raced to third with a time of 35m34s.

Next year he will compete in the National Triathlon Super Series.
