TRIBUTE has been paid to a inspirational football club chairman who has sadly died.
Stamford AFC chairman Ken Joynson, 84, of Manor Way, Deeping St James, died last night in Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, three days after falling at the Spalding Tulip Parade.
He was a passionate football fan and a New College Stamford governor.
Mr Joynson represented Deeping St James on South Kesteven District Council for many years and was standing for election in tomorrow’s polls.
The Deeping St James elections have now been postponed but the referendum will still go ahead.
The district council’s chief executive Beverley Agass said: “We were all saddened to hear the news and our thoughts are with his family.
“Ken was an exemplary councillor, well loved and respected by everyone. He carried out his role with dignity and integrity and he will be sadly missed.”
