NAVAL engineer Becky Chapman, who grew up in Uppingham, took part in the royal wedding parade outside Westminster Abbey.
She is currently based at Devonport in Plymouth and has been there for about three yrs.
Becky is a weapons engineer and until recently was aboad HMS Chatham which was decommisioned last month.
Her mother Racheal Meacham, of Firs Avenue, Uppingham, said: “When last home on leave she received a phone call from an officer informing her that she had been selected to perform royal duties for the wedding. We were all very excited and looking forward to this very special occasion. “The BBC went to Fareham Naval Base in Portsmouth earlier this week to film the rehersal of the parade. Becky was in the pictures then as well.
“We are all very proud of what Becky has accomplished so far in her career including her last tour of the Somalia basin in the fight against the pirates of the area.”
